Living a healthier life not only extend your life, but also improve the quality. Feeling physically better and having control over your own life can greatly increase your mental health as well. Although there are some aspects of physical and mental health that are beyond an individual's control, here are a few things that people can do to improve their quality of life.
- Consult your doctor before you start any exercise program.
- Start any exercise programme with warm up and stretching and end again with stretching.
- Start Slow! Each session, add a few minutes to your workout to progress each week.
- Write down your workouts every day. It can give idea of progress if any.
- Set daily or weekly fitness goals.
- Eat regularly throughout the day so you don't bonk during your workout.
- Drink water before, during and after exercise. Make sure you drink 8-10 glasses of water every day.
- Dress appropriately for the heat and cold.
- Regular days off from exercise gives your body the chance to build and repair muscle and bone. A rest day after an intense workout day can help restore you.
- If you experience dizziness, chest pain or have difficulty talking during exercise, you are working beyond your level. Slow down until you feel better, and consult with your health care provider.
